As America’s skills gap widens, now is the moment to shift the paradigm in education and workforce development. K14 and university career pathways must be scaled to meet workforce demand and expand the viability of our economic development initiatives nationwide.
Today, many young people are unaware of the many rewarding careers, opportunities, and educational and career on-ramps to achieve the future they want to experience. This is the awareness gap—and it’s where the skills gap starts.
Through purpose-driven education, students can experience many different career opportunities earlier in their journey. When they discover their career direction sooner, they can invest wisely and purposefully in their further education—whether that means a 2-year or 4-year degree, industry certification, apprenticeship, licensure, or any other specialized training.

Communities must plan strategically to bridge the skills gap and empower students with a dynamic competitive advantage. The 2022 Take Action event brings teams, individuals, and stakeholders together to create actionable plans for economic vitality and student performance.
